What is Net Metering?
Think of Net Metering as a solar powered piggy bank:
- Our solar panels generate electricity during the day feeding electricity to your facility. During the day the panels produce MORE than your property is using. The excess is directed back onto the power grid, effectively feeding/crediting the net metering piggy bank. The electric company repurposes the extra power to your neighbors.
- The power meter keeps track of the EXTRA power that the solar panels are generating. The “extra” electricity literally makes your electric meter "spin backwards," crediting your solar piggy bank account.
- At night, the solar panels aren't producing any electricity because there's no sun. At that point you draw from your solar piggy bank on the local grid, using up that extra electricity that our panels created during the day.
- At the end of the year, the electric company presents you with a bill that is the "net" between what the solar panels generated over the year and what you used beyond that.
What if I sell my home or property?
If you sell your property before the end of the PPA, you can transfer the PPA to the new owners if they qualify with excellent credit, or you can buy out the PPA after 5 years, and add that cost to your asking price. A solar system will help differentiate your property from others on the market because buyers are increasingly seeking “green” properties that are energy efficient and will help them save money on energy costs.
How will I get billed each month?
The easy way; Automatically! Sunetric Capital will automatically bill your checking account once per month and email you a copy of your bill/statement showing the amount of solar energy you used, what you paid, and what you would have paid the utility company without the system.
What will the bill show me?
Your bill will show the amount of solar energy you used in kilowatt hours, the total amount of energy you used, and what you would have paid the utility company. It will also show you historic data on your usage similar to the statements you are currently receiving from the utility.
Can I log in to see my power production?
Not yet, but we will be offering this service soon. (Phase II development)
With a Sunetric Capital, you will have peace of mind that your system will continue to perform beautifully for years to come. Our custom built, proprietary tracking system proactively monitors the solar system on your property for the full life of the PPA. This allows you/us to continuously monitor your system to ensure it is running smoothly and performing as expected.
In the unlikely event that your system underperforms, we will alert you and help to remedy the situation. We will send out a repair technician and make all system repairs at no cost to you.
